IW! South Island

InclusionWorks! South Island began forming in early 2014 with the first meetings of area families considering options for their transitioning youth. After several meetings over a period of months and assistance from InclusionWorks! Victoria and Inclusion Works! Saanich, 11 participants and their families chose to come together using the InclusionWorks! model of family governance to begin this new transition in their lives.

IW! South Island began programming in June 2014 and continues to develop partnerships and individualized programming for their young adults. The group has benefited from the existing partnerships of its predecessors (SIDES, University of Victoria, Flow Communications, Victoria Music Conservatory, Power to Be etc.) and an amazing host agency, Community Living Victoria.  We have also brought on some new partners (PISE Adapted Fitness class, movement/dance from trained instructor from Montreal, and Island Sexual Health) to further expand our community connections.
We are currently focused on supporting our participants with increased independence in daily living and employment by implementing meaningful programming, such as a healthy relationship workshop, self advocacy group, job discovery and ongoing fitness development for emotional and physical well being.  Our participants work hard every day to be part of an inclusive community that brings meaning and joy into their lives.
